Solar street lights and flow reduction

Category: Technical Support 25/10/2023

Each solar street light project has different and specific needs. Factors such as the location or use of the area in which the solar luminaires are installed may require different requirements to meet the intended objectives (a park, a road, a bicycle lane, etc.). It is important to consider these factors when establishing the required lighting intensity flows throughout the night.

Solar streetlight regulation systems

COVIMED solar streetlights have a regulation system that allows them to adapt to the requirements of each project. The adjustable parameters range from setting the hours of operation to the ability to modify the LED light intensity at different times of the day. The controllers installed in the solar street lights offer up to 10 phases of lighting flow regulation, each of which is customizable.

For instance, in different phases, it is possible to set powerful lighting for the first four hours on a bike path, then decrease it and increase it again at dawn. In other words, it is possible to adjust their operation to the normal usage patterns of the citizens.

Lighting in any circumstance

It is possible that the charging capacity may be affected after several days of rain or lack of sunlight. In such situations, the solar street lights from our company are equipped with an energy-saving system that minimizes power consumption and applies a criterion of reduced operation during each of the programmed phases. Once the system detects that the solar panel has returned to normal performance, the preset programming is automatically reactivated.

All these functions allow for an optimization of the battery, ensuring the maximum number of days of illumination and, consequently, the autonomy of the solar street light. All these features can be easily managed through a remote control or through the online system (previously installed) via an app or tablet. In this regard, COVIMED solar street lights with their customizable flows and phases contribute to an efficient and sustainable lighting solution.

In addition to the features that COVIMED's solar controllers have, depending on the specific project, we can incorporate other systems, such as presence detectors, which allows the increase of lighting when the presence of people is detected and then reducing its intensity.

COVIMED SOLAR has a people detection system that allows regulating up to 8 time phases with different intensities. We can determine the minimum lighting during the night in each time phase and the maximum when people are present, just as we can establish the lighting duration until people disappear.
